The Nations Capital

We picked the hire car up from La Guardia airport and then had to drive right through the centre of Manhattan during rush hour!

Quite an experience. We then drove down to Philadelphia where we stopped for a Philly cheesesteak.

We had a choice of Geno’s or Pat’s. After much deliberation we decided to go with the original (and still the best), Pat’s. Delicious, and not nearly as greasy as we expected.

We then drove to our hotel in Washington DC. Next morning we got the most unhealthy breakfast ever in a great little place called Lincolns Waffle House.

We had to queue to get in at 11am and our waiter (who I think was also the owner) was complaining that they were much quieter than usual as it was too hot. He was a great character and the food him and the food (a mixture of banana pancakes, chocolate waffles, bacon and eggs) made it a memorable place.

We then toured the sights.

Before spending the afternoon in the Smithsonian museums. Which were excellent.

Unhealthy breakfast probably was but I don’t see much left on the plates.

Lou’s got her eyes closed. Is she managing to keep up with the hectic pace! Just back from 4 days in Budapest – amazing time. Pam & David x
